Had a chance to get out today so I grabbed some dried mullein leaves and took off. First I started a fire by finding a dry piece of wood and made some shaving and fuzz sticks. Everything was wet and damp from all the rain we been having. The shaving and fuzz sticks did the trick but I did have to blow on the fire to keep it going until i had some coals going. Next I found just the right rock, filled it with cooking oil and placed the wick on top. Used a piece of fatwood to light the lamp, it took just a minute to get the wick going. I must say it worked great so if you ever run out of wicks just dry some mullein leaves and your good to go. I did char some mullein leaves but I wasn't able to get them to catch a spark. Once charred the leaves crumble very easily so you have to throw or drop a spark on the leaves. This I was unable to do, so I still don't know if charred mullein will work like charcloth... now the video
