What do you do with an empty bic lighter? Do you toss it out once it's enpty? I hope after watching this video you will keep them and learn how to use them after they are empty. A slight modification is all that's needed

VERY NICE!!!
I would never have thought of that.
Does anybody know how to refill lighters? I mean provided that you have the fuel necessary, how would you refill them?
If anyone is familiar with Selco he says that the way he survived the bosnian war was to have a trade. His trade was medicine (nursing) his second trade was he had a family member who knew how to refill Bic lighters and that was what he and this family member did all day was refill the lighters then re-sell them during the siege of Sarajevo...

I would try the same thing with some cattail fluff and some of my other favorite types of tinder. All the tinders ought to work well if surrounded by shielding from wind/rain. For instance, how about a couple dry bits of smallwood from a conifer holding a protruding pinch of cattail or milkweed fluff?

I collect old Bics from friends and have saved a few which still spark. Since I don't want to save all of them I take them apart, this gives me extra long flints, springs and striking wheels. When the ones I kept no longer strike I can add a flint to it and get it going again. If that dang spring flies to Tim Buk Tu, I have spare ones along with the wheels if they quit working for whatever reason like wear and tear. Those extra parts I save take up very little room but do have value.

I'm thinking those parts could live in an Altoids tin too.

I'm thinking those parts could live in an Altoids tin too. I don't have too many altoids tins but I do have two I use for mini fire kits and have a used lighter in one with a few of those spare parts for just in case.
