What do you think? You're forced to bugout and relocate with the possibility of not returning home. Lists for BOB's and INCH bags include many valuable items in hopes of getting by and surviving. On the forum we have great info which was posted pertaining to the do's and don't's of a nuclear attack along with gear and other items to avoid radiation exposure. Would it not be wise to also include this great info and gear into our bags, I've noticed it hasn't been mentioned on the lists. Just food for thought.

I keep tyvek coveralls with hoods, gloves and footies, plus n95 respirators, goggles and duct tape in the car at all times, and my extended BOB has a keychain rad alarm and dosimeters with charger, plus a couple bottles of Potassium Iodide. Not sure what more I could put in there for a nuclear exchange, honestly. I own a copy of Cresson H. Kearny's "Nuclear Survival Skills", which has some great ideas for an expedited shelter and ventilation/filtration system. I recommend a copy, if nothing else, the downloaded 1987 version, even though it is somewhat dated. There is still a lot of decent info in case of limited nuke exchange, a dirty bomb, or other nuclear emergency. www.oism.org/nwss/

A person can only carry so much gear, but I will keep coming back to this thread and see what I can learn. I lack smarts in this area only because surviving a nuke attack in the open is almost certain death. Hope to learn something here

I'm with you off trail. If it comes down to nukes, unless it is only one or two far away? Do I want to survive, in a world of hairless, skinless, toothless folks wandering about. We have enough of those here now.

For gear right now I acquired everything I was issued for NBC training so I can cover myself top to bottom. Definitely not a cheap spending spree, and hopefully I'll never have to use the gear. For knowledge I've been picking it up where I can (including a few things from cwi in the previous forum). Again, hopefully I'll never have to use it.
