I think that stuff has many uses. The pickup I bought had some rust spots around the wheel well. Once that was fixed I had two aerosol cans of bedliner and had the guy spray around the edge. Put the chrome strip back on and it looks normal (blue truck black bedliner spray). I've seen a whole Dodge Ram painted with it. I'm going to do my trailer hitches with it and the top of my truck bed tool box. If I had a metal floor board I'd do that too.

I need to paint the metal hand rails at the house this year. I wonder if this would be an alternative paint?

It would IMO. It's durable cause it sits out in the heat and cold and rain. It's textured enough that it would help with grasping. It's not smooth. I'm not sure if it comes in any color but black. You can buy it in an aerosol can or by the quart or gallon.

When we had the shop used this on some very rough looking gun stocks. worked great and covered up some nasty looking but usable wood.

Good stuff that bedliner. I used a few different brands. Duplicolor, rustoleum and forget the other brand(complete waste of $)...the rustoleum brand worked great. Walmart and home depot had it in 1 gallon cans for around $60 once upon a time. My father in law used it on his evaporative cooler years ago and its still holding up well.
