Today I went to the doctor for a bladder infection. Naturally I was prescribed an antibiotic. Went to wallyworld to get the script filled. The antibiotic is call Levofloxacin Tablets 500 mg.There are six paragraphs detailing side effects. Below is the first. This drug may cause very bad side effects. These include irritated or torn tendons, nerve problems in the arms, hands, legs or feet and nervous system problems. These side effects can happen alone or at the same time. They can happen within hours to weeks after starting this drug. Some of these side effects may not go away and may lead to disability or death. Cash Price $114.89. Patient Pay $11.16. Is Walmart dealing in black market drugs and literally making a legal killing at the same time and profitting from it? I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't to take this drug.

I hear you my friend. It's so sad we have to play Russian Roulette with drugs dispensed to us and having such dire side effects. Yet at the same time they pull frivolous items off the shelves which they say have cancer causing ingredients in them. It's all smoke screens and the government gets away with it time and again.

IMO trial lawyers have caused much of this. Companies are so afraid of lawsuits that they go full on overkill with the disclaimers.
Same thing with rising health care costs. So many unnecessary tests are ordered just to avoid lawsuits. There are higher costs associated with all of this.

OH NO read the article below! Yours is one of these drugs listed in here. Here is the article I shared on FB with the FDA info. One of the links lists the drugs Hope it makes you better.
Here is the MOST SCARY quote FROM THIS ARTICLE. I CHECKED HER SOURCES AND WHAT SHE SAYS IS CORRECT.
This class of antibiotics were supposed to be only used as a last resort antibiotics, if all other options had failed. They never were supposed to be given for common infections. They damage the body so seriously because they actually damage the DNA mitochondrial repair cells. Those are the cells that are supposed to heal any damage to the body. In this case, it damages the cells that are supposed to repair damaged cells and tissue. So…you can only heal tissue to the integrity it was when it fell apart. Fantastic. You now have tissue paper tendons and ligaments. You are a human piñata at a party and life is whacking you left and right. Do you know what it feels like to hear and feel your shoulder pull apart like taffy, or your achilles pop and tear apart like an old rubber band? It gets even better. Flouroquinolones cross the blood brain barrier. This can result in psychiatric events, depression, and suicidal thoughts. I was incredibly fortunate not to have the psychiatric side of this.
Here is another sickening truth…the damage is cumulative. The more exposures you have to these antibiotics, the more damage is done to your body. Not just for some people, ALL people. A hundred percent of people who take a Fluoroquinolone antibiotic, show changes in blood flow to the tendon, cartilage, and ligament in their bodies. Each person has a different breaking point depending on their own unique DNA. Some people fall apart or die after 1 pill. I fell apart after my 4th round of Fluoroquinolone antibiotics in my life and some people are on their 25th round and are still oblivious to what is happening inside them until they break. It might not even be a physical one. It may be a psychotic one. By then, it’s too late. The damage is done.

Wow.......that sounds scary as heck, SG.
I am fortunate in that I have not needed any antibiotics at all for the last 18 years.

.....and I might add....some of the reasons for these new high powered drugs is the resistance to older traditional antibiotics....some of which was caused by the overuse of them by doctors as a cure-all for everthing....
A bit ironic would you say....

This is a follow up. I called my urologist's office and voiced my fears associated with this medicine. Of course the doctor prescribed me another antibiotic. Sooo.... it's back to town to pay for and pick up another antibiotic he prescribed.

I hope this isn't taken as cold hearted cause I love Missasip like a brother. I respect his decisions and I know if anyone has and will continue to love and live his life on his terms it's him. He enjoys life and he's giving back to his mom like the great guy he is. So I'm not sad for him. Just lots of respect. That can be said about so many here on this forum. Many have and continue to face difficulties and hardships and yet they're still standing tall and doing what needs to be done. In spite of and sometimes because of the obstacles they face. We all have been given a shot at this life and we do with the best we can. Makes me proud to be a small part of this great family.

Jimmy Jimmy, I am the last one to support crazy "ending of life" decisions BUT YOURS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE. You have to live on the terms you are comfortable with, and your decision is your own. I have no idea what I would do but my FIL mostly ignores all his diabetes stuff, lives as he wants and will likely outlive us all. His bad heart makes him miserable and he takes over 16 different meds a day. So if he chooses to eat high fat, high carb and enjoy life, well, just as with you, it is your decision. I am sad for you as CL so eloquently put it in her post. You all are in my prayers

So I chose the word "sad" to express my deep admiration for this big "Teddy Bear" of a man and very dear friend. Deal with it or meet me at the Cajunlady Corral on Saturday the 25th of March, Highway 90, next door to Spahr's Seafood Restaurant. After I whip your behind we can chow down on real Cajun cuisine at your expense of course!

I so love this place. I really feel so much "family" here. Please don't worry about me. It's not that I'm not watching my sugar or anything else. Yes my sugar stays on the high side but I watch my diet as well as I can and I do the herbs to help. It's just I just don't see the use in taking some to control one issue and likely cause another issue. With cancer so prevalent in my genes I just have to look another direction. With the weight loss over the last 3 years, that alone has helped my health. I'm blessed now with fantastic blood pressure. Wasn't before. 3 bp meds to keep it normal. None now. Cholesterol good now and no more dangerous meds for that. No more Nexium or Prilosec for acid Flux cause its gone. Just the sugar issue still pops me. I've taken, Actos, Byetta, metforman for my type II. All three are bad for you in other ways cancer wise. Heck Byetta is made from the salava of the Gila Monster....lizard spit mind you.... So like I said I will do what I can to keep it under control but I just can't do the other. It's all good. As I've said so many times, never thought I'd make it to 40...63 next month so I got lots of lagniappe going on....you know what I'm saying CL... I love all y'all and would take a bullet for any of ya! Thanks so much for your concern. And yes TW is a brother from another mother.....and geek you are the person here who always says it straight, which is what I love! Thanks for being you... Jimmy
