I've had good luck with the magpul magazines that have the removeable cover for the ar. along with everyone else, chip mccormick mags for the .45 Do you know of any significant difference between the power + and the power mags? Im considering getting 3 of the 10 round ones and 3 of the 8 rounders.

The end results of the test were without a single failure. I just got back from the range catching the end of the session. No FTF, no failures at all. We generally don't stop there and prefer to test to failure.
Two hundred more rounds past the 3K and still nothing. So we had a bit of fun playing mag toss with a fully loaded mag. Our range has a short cliff next to it, so we dropped the mag from it (~30 feet) loaded. That didn't do it, so we threw it at the wall, that didn't do it either. (though toss a few rounds out when it hit)
While those are empirical results, we were highly impressed as the mag simply would not give up the ghost. Now I am going to have to put it in a concrete core breaker to see just where it does fail regarding force from various angles.
In all, I don't think you are going to break it in normal and even seminormal service. (including running it over with an F250 which we did)
We are sold on it, and have placed an order for 300 of them as a group.

As a side note, the Ruger SR556 was the test weapon. It also performed flawlessly, though we didn't drive over it with the truck.

CWI - were the pmags the next generation ones or the original ones. Also, are these the ones with the windows? Thanks for posting your results with us!

The .45 mags were the 8 rnders. I like them better, they don't extend to fare out of the handle and don't weight that much more with only 1 extra round. a long magazine tends to catch on things when my pistol is in it's hostler.

On the Officers and other smaller .45's I like the 8 rd so I have just enough extended to wrap my little finger around. But in those cases if I carry a spare it is a 10rd.

PMag all the way for me. Changed out all of my GI mags for them. My sons used H&K mags as well as PMags while in Iraq late last year. They are SOCOM so they did not use what the line units used. I like the PMags because you can load them and then snap on the cover and it removes the pressure from the feed lips. Nice feature.

Forgot to add....... stick to the black PMags with no window. Sons noted they did see some issue with cracking on the ones that were non-black. I assume must be some change in the polymer used for the different colors.

Regarding colored mags, there is no chemical difference in the polymers. The natural color of polymers is not black, the black mags have just as much dye in them as the others. As for cracking are they first gen, or is it possible you got a few clones?

Interesting! I've been running PMags in my M&P Sport for almost a year now with no issues.

I have never experienced a problem with my mags. Then again I am not as abusive on equipment as those guys. webbdad

One of the things I've done for the test above, is to interview a number of veterans (most worked for me at my former lab). Those reports your speaking of are the first I've heard. I'd be interested if you could ask your son some details of those mags, where the crack was, how long, an idea of what it took before development, general appearance of the mag, function problems etc? We don't keep PSP 64gr rounds, but if you give us your specs (rifle specs/brand of ammo) We can do it here.
