Long story short, is it possible to block or overwhelp security cameras potentially with IR?
Neighbors who we used to be friendly with, across the street from my house have security cameras pointed at my kids windows and living room windows at the front of our house. A second neighbor was alarmed when the now unfriendly neighbor was showing the system to him.
Cops are 100 percent on my family's side as this guy has called over 60 times in one month for code violations on our street but can't do much about it.
Short of going to jail how could I block them without no wing the camera specifics?

Doesn't the same right to privacy come into play that the drones have to follow. Might check I believe he can monitor his own land but not violate yours.

You can overwhelm a digital camera with excessive input. However, it takes very precise aiming, and can expose you to legal risk. They are going to know immediately if their camera is being overwhelmed as all they will get is white static. The legal risk are mostly grey area from the laws perspective in that you're interfering with a legal device actively. The clearly illegal risk are if one of your lasers are off centered, or for any reason get jostled into potion of pointing into the sky, it's illegal to shine a laser at a plane or police drone. Even if exactly aimed, there is nothing preventing your neighbor from setting you up and flashing a plane etc. When they come looking, they will see your mounted lasers and pin it on you.
There are legal passive measures, some of which are very expensive that rich and or technically savvy folks use, but that's killing a fly with a sledge hammer. Cheapest manner is to simply pull the blinds, and barring that, turning the glass into one way via tints/films.
It's sad that the world has come to this. It would help if the laws would catch up to reality.

I was thinking IR flashlight similar to a weapons mounted light from the military. Basically a bright light with visible light filtered out.
Wife ordered the tint as soon as we found out.
I suppose if he can record me I can blind his cameras.

I suppose if he can record me I can blind his cameras. It won't work for blinding a visible light camera. The same filters that make the ccd visible spectrum sensitive, will block out the IR. It will block out the IR if the cameras are sensitive to it.

If you mounted a mirror on the window would it reflect back into the camera causing the cameras not to focus

Another thought: What if the guy is a pedophile and recording your children for that purpose? Maybe he isn't, but why else would he want to tape your children's activities inside their bedrooms if not to see them dressing and undressing?

Go to your city attorney/county attorney and show them the set-up he has or describe it. Be calm but assert your right to privacy. The cops do not know this kind of law. What state are you in if you don't mind me asking?

Kut you're in good hands now. You just don't know it maybe. When SG asks for the state the research gods tremble. Lol.
