I have been running crazy & busy, but I pack this big ole book everywhere I go and when I get the chance, I am reading it!! I am hoping to have enough of it memorized to be able to take the test before the elections November 6th...just depends on when they do the test, how much it costs and where its held...THEN I have to get a HAM set up! LOL!! One step at a time, I AM getting closer! I am not just reading it, I am trying to imprint as much of this book in my head as I can! I WILL DO IT!! ;D ;D ;D

I WILL DO IT!! ;D ;D ;D The test is $15. you can take the first test for the Technician and if you pass you can take the next level and the next level after that as long as you pass the one before it. So you could take all thre for just the $15 dollars. It also does not cost anything to renew your license. You have inspired me to go ahead and get mine. I have been wanting one for about 20 yrs now and just havent gotten off my lazzy butt to go get it. So I am going to take my test here in Oct. I am shooting for Oct. the 1st. Wish me luck.

Just for everyone interested there is an excellent web site for study/practice exams etc for obtaining ham licenses. *hamradiolicenseexamdotcom* Granted it cost 24.95 for Technician (on special through the end of SEPT for 20.00) and different prices for general and extra. The prices are for 2 years access and they guarantee you pass or refund your money. All questions are from current exam pools and you can take as many practice tests as you like. I try and study 1 hour a day if I can. Jim

I have been using it and the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual.

OK...waiting on a package from the ARRL for some information. Contacted the FCC to get a FRN #. Found a man that is testing on 11/14 about an hour and half from here. Waiting on his call back for the cost and to find out what I need.
So...if everything goes right, I will have my Technician HAM license on November 14th. Not exactly before the elections...but maybe soon enough that it will do some good.
NOW...what kind of equipment do I need to look for? This is my Christmas gift from Jims wife Carol and their son Steven. So nothing to expensive, but good enough to get me contact with the outside world when I want to use it.
