With premium SD ammo there is virtually no difference in what happens to the human body when shot with either a 9mm or .380. About all you would be giving up with choosing a 380 is a little kinetic energy transfer (knock down power). The wound channels and cavitation would be almost indistinguishable from one another. So bottom line is, a 380 in the pocket beats a 9/40/45 at home in the gun box.
Just an observation that I have made is, every patient I have seen in the ER that we knew was shot COM with a 9mm died, all the ones we knew were shot COM with a .45 lived. They were never the same again but they did live.
Personally, I feel that your holster and belt choices play just as big of a role in comfort and concealability as weapon choice. I carry my XDm .40 year round in a CBST with a Crossbreed belt.
As far as carrying with an empty chamber, I would strongly advise against this. Modern firearms really only ever go off when the trigger is pulled. As long as you have it in a holster that covers the trigger you will be fine. That extra second that it takes to chamber a round may be the one that saves your life. Not to mention, if you get into a situation where you are fighting for your life and you have to draw your gun, can you guarantee you will have both hands free? Just my opinion but if you are going to carry a gun it needs to be on your person and ready to go.

Remember, you asked for it. There is a gun in there somewhere as well as the Hong.!!!! OMG I tried the Keltec but it didn't feel right in my hand. The Ruger is comfortable. I'll try it out next week. Heck! Go ahead and post the bikini pics. I'll wave dollar bills. If you've been on a certain other site and know what a hong is then nothing can top that.

I believe too many people discount revolvers. I prefer PPK for backup, and Glock 30 for primary, but I'd be the last person to discount the viability of a good revolver. Yes, a well placed .38+p HP is a game changer. A wheel gun is still a gun and if Im on the receiving end its getting all the respect due any auto.

Ok, we just came back like 30 min ago from local gun show and I handled a Ruger LC 380...not LCP 380 but an LC 380. This is built on the LC9's frame and has a safety

I'm okay with the LCP not having a safety, the trigger pull is fairly decent, and like said before with the trigger covered in a holster there should be no problems. Safetys can be accidently turned off as well.
