Been doing some research on a portable light weight high capacity water filter system. One that I can carry with me on camping trips and for the bob. It's the Swayer mini, at around 25 dollars it's a great buy. I posted a review for those that may be interested and looking for a filter

You can check out your own reviews if you like, there are many and all the ones I seen had nothing but good things to say about this Sawyer Mini water filter. Not having a way of filtering water has bothered me for some time now. Just knowing I will have this piece of equipment to go with my bob gives me piece of mind. It doesn't filter out chemicals or pharmaceuticals and some viruses. Still it's safe to use and if you stay in the US it should be all you need. please if you find any of my statements incorrect post it here...thanks

Thanks for the review I seen these at the last gun show, guess I'll have to get a couple. Recently bought a couple Life Straws however they only treat 264 gallons or 1000 liters but inexpensive and easy to use.

The sawyer mini has a small o.1 micron absolute and does 100.000 gallons is unbelievable. I'm on my way to pick one up hope it's in stock.

I have a couple of 'straws' as well and a katadyn hiker pro water system. I also have a few camelbacks but IF I get around to hiking the AT I'm taking one of these. Yes I know it's not anything like what is being discussed here but if I'm on the run I can get 4 liters of water in less than five minutes. The weight is only 10.5 oz. Pricey but I think useful if you find yourself a hike from a water source.. one trip, one exposure to others. When you're having to boil water then this is better. Enough water to resupply, cook, and wash with in one trip. www.rei.com/product/813799/platypus-gravityworks-water-filter#pr-header-back-to-top-link

That's a great system all together.. and a good price. I like it and to me the real benefit is able to drink directly from the water source through the straw

Sorry I didn't see post on time to make a few points. I have both the Sawyer .1 micron water filter and the Sawyer .02 micron Purifier which is a bigger filter. My suggestions is to get the filter with the most bang for your buck, and that is the 4 way filter, you can look it up on the Sawyer website: sawyer.com/water.html?gclid=CLb32fyUqbsCFe5j7AodVGoAcw and look for the all in one. Sawyer PointONE™ All in One Filter model SP181 "Great for emergency preparedness kits, The All in One Filter gives you the ability to use the Sawyer PointONE™ 0.10 Absolute Micron Water Filter attached to a squeeze pouch, attached to a standard 5 gallon bucket, or attached to your home faucet. The "build your own gravity system" can yield up to 540 gallons of clean water per day from any fresh water source. Kit includes: the Sawyer 0.1 Micron Absolute Micron Hollow Fiber Membrane Screw On/Off Filter, 32 oz Squeeze Pouch, 2 Pop-up Drinking Spouts, 1 bucket adapter kit, 1 faucet adapter, and 1 filter cleaner. Life Expectancy: 1 Million Gallons Guaranteed. Bucket not included."
It retails for $69.99 but is has been on sale up to now for $59.99 at Dick's Sporting Goods stores (at my local store anyway). Even paying the full price its a lot cheaper that some of the other brands and it last a long time. I have used both filters for about 3 years while at the campground for a period of 7 months each year. I use a pre-filter and I have hot have any issues with my water filter, and the well water at the campground is nasty. I used the both for about 10 months each to make water to drink and cook with.
