About every place I've seen has increased prices this year. Walmart has been the benchmark as they historically stay at or under most others pricing.
It's up over 17% on average this year alone. 5.56, 9mm, .45 acp, 22lr all up closer to 23% on average.
I believe we are seeing the new norm. I am far from hurting for it, but it will affect me, and everyone else down the road, no matter how large you stash of ammo is.
What happens to gun rights when people cannot afford to buy ammo?

I would be happy just to find some ammo, Walmart never seems to have the caliber i'm looking for. I believe they are working it from the inside, calling friends when they get a few boxes in. I don't blame them I would do the same but still it does pi*$ me off.

I do believe you are correct. They can't get what they want through legislation, so the unelected bureaucrats have been directed to do it through regulation and consumption.

That's been their 'aim' for a long time.. last year (or maybe earlier this year) there were several places where they were trying to place a tax on each bullet.. Chicago was going for .50 a bullet I think (it was to pay for the medical care of those shot.. dumbazzes.. why not just stop the violence by actually sending the police in to clean it up) I do think that is the eventuality of it though.. tax per bullet. You know.. if you like your gun you can keep your gun.. obamer said of course you can build a coal mine it's just that it will be so expensive you won't want to. Well of course you can keep your guns.. it's just that if you want to shoot ammo from it the cost will be so high you won't want to.

As I have been posting for a long time, there is no question in my mind that "the gun control crowd" will work hard to achieve their goals by attacking ammo and reloading supplies. We are at a pricing plateau for awhile, but I suspect that they will be MUCH higher due to new taxes and/or other artificial shortages that will eventually be implemented.
I still shop for the best pricing, because money is tight. Now that ammo is on the shelves of so many stores again, Walmart is not always the lowest like they have been for the last year - except for .22lr. Most recently they had Winchester .22lr black tip M22 in 1,000 round boxes for $48.88. each with the 3 box limit. One man brought his wife and son and got 9,000 rounds. I'm partial to the Federal .22lr in 555 round maroon colored boxes for $24.00 each. Yes, 4 to 5 cents per round is expensive compared to "before", but still low enough to amass a collection of it.
They are also selling 1,000 round boxes of 5.56, 9mm, and .40 also – some priced low – some not, but it’s good to see bulk packs starting to come in again!
Yeah, I have been accused of hoarding, but look at how little it took to trigger this last horrendous ammunition buying panic. It wouldn’t take much to cause one of much greater proportions and I refuse to get caught by the next one. Besides, I see this as nothing more than a hedge against inflation – like the food supply I’m trying to build.
I would again add my caution that having all of your food/ammo/supplies in one place is a recipe for losing all of it.

Here's a few links which might help you if you can order over the interwebz: Gunbot <-- says to register but I never have. Wikiarms <-- same as above. Slickguns <-- Gunz, ammo, mags, pointy things. IIRC you can set up e-mail alerts if you are looking for something in particular.

Yes, 4 to 5 cents per round is expensive compared to "before", but still low enough to amass a collection of it. 4 to 5 cents a round? Around here you're lucky to find it for as low as a dime per round. Online on places like Gunbroker I don't even bother with anymore because they still think people will buy 22LR, low-end 22LR for that matter, for a quarter per round. Of course, since they want me to show as much ID to buy ammo as I normally would to buy a firearm I don't bother buying ammo in this state in the first place. Ok, rant over.

Maybe a little off topic but I am investing in another 17hmr as ammo is always there for it GRRRRRR there you go again stirring up the pot.. I had never even considered .17hmr although I always saw ammo for it on the shelves when most everything else was gone.. Now I have to rethink and that would mean ANOTHER caliber of ammo.. I mean I know my single action .22 RG revolver is lonely.. but really.. lol I did read a comparison to .22wmr and .17hmr today.. seems like the .17 can do okay. Anyone else have one of these and do you have bolt action?

Just a reminder that if I show up at my Walmart after about 8:30am, there is no ammo in the popular calibers. My particular store stocks the ammo shelves at 6:30am to 7:30am, because the shipments come in overnight. The popular stuff sells out quickly, so I stop by in my way to work at 7:15am to 7:30am. I've had the afternoon employees tell me that they have not received any .22lr for months, when I bought it right there the same morning, and a few days before, and the week before that...... It can be highly variable, so I have to stay on it.
I've explained this to some folks around here who say things like: "I just don't have the time to do that, I would be late for work." I don't doubt that it's slim pickings in some states like CT, CA, MA, etc. Learn what the pattern is at your stores and adjust accordingly.
Someone is buying the millions of rounds of ammo being produced daily........and it's mostly people like me who are willing to work at it. No I won't arrive zero-dark-thirty and wait in line - I hate lines with a passion. I am persistent, not desperate.

I am on a Christmas Vacation supposedly. My normal start time at work is 0430. The local Walmart doesn't put out ammo until 0700. I've picked up some large boxes of 5.56, and even two boxes of 500 each 7.62x51 308 since this break started, but still no .22.
On another note, I have learned something regarding laying tile. Industrial strength grout doesn't lend itself very well to future alterations. I am ready to take a reciprocal saw to the kitchen floor at this point as the tile doesn't want to come along willingly.

I'd trade kitchen floors with you in a heartbeat.
My WalMart friend in WI tells me that ammo there is rather sparse. It's not something she normally checks, nor is it her department at work, but 22lr is rare.

It is hard to even talk about a particular bathroom floor, ceramic tile removal........ and that was after doing the kitchen, entry way and another bathroom. It is my considered opinion that someone concocted the worlds strongest blend of industrial strength cement/grout/quickset/alien spawn elastomeric adhesive - just to be sure that future archeologists would appreciate his tile floor in some distant millennium! After realizing that I was in over my head, I enlisted the help of the best tile setting professional. He gave up and told me that the floor was obviously possessed and that I should call the Archdiocese. The second guy was a demolition specialist. After an hour with a 200psi, 40hp compressor driving a jackhammer with a 6" piston - he announced that he needed a lunch break.......and never returned. I sold the house as a three bedroom, two bathroom - with "that" room dry walled up............. OK......maybe I exaggerated just a little. The demolition guy only tried for 45 minutes Marc
