My five7 is as close as I get to a Glock.

Very nice collection woodyz, I especially like the M9. I like the five7 also but ammo may be a bit hard to come by in a shtf situation but you're still covered by your M9 and your AR.

Do you like the M9. I shot one a few months ago for the military. Qualified the first time I shot it but just didn't like how it felt. The safety was too high for my liking also. I wanted to get some other opinions from those who own or who have shot them.

If you end up liking the M9 but the safety is a miss for you, I'd recommend looking at the Taurus PT92. It's a licensed reproduction of the Beretta 92, but it has a safety that is lowered to the frame rather than on the slide. Do you like the M9. I shot one a few months ago for the military. I like the M9 a lot. I like the way it feels and the way it shoots and stays on target. But I carried 45 colts for 40 years so I am used to the thumb safety.

I like the 1911 thumb safety but the M9 thumb safety was so high up on the slide that I had to use my other hand to reach it. I have dainty hands for a guy I guess. I did like the way it shot and considered getting one but the safety just drove me nuts.

It's a great gun that functions exactly as the M9 and looks just about the same except for a few small differences, one being the safety is on the frame instead of on the slide. One thing to keep in mind however is that even though they may look the same, the mags are not interchangeable . JMHO .

Good catch, forgot to mention that. You do have to buy different magazines. The Taurus pistols are less money than the Beretta, but mags aren't as widespread since miltary and police were issued the Beretta's. However, if you have the skill and want to take the time, you can modify beretta mags to work in the taurus. (tons of vids online). Just be sure to thoroughly test them.

That is my problem with the safety on the five7, it's to the middle on the frame to be pushed with a finger, but I am always using my other hand because I am so used to a thumb safety.

That M9 is SWEET! I love the M9 and have one laying right here next to me. I love the feel and the reliability. They are TOUGH sidearms for sure.
Tell me about the Five7. I SERIOUSLY been looking at those!
