Ok I do not own one and I think I want one. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO the question is what to get. I have been looking at the taurus m617. It seems all of the reviews have been decent and the price is great. What else should I look at?
I have a gun show tomorrow that I will be looking at and potentially pick something up. I have become a bit of a bargain shopper so I might not be able to have the seller come down to my price. I am basing my $ evaluations off of buds guns.com. Is that a safe bet?
I don't have to have this as a carry weapon as I have an xd subcompact that I carry now. I just what a revolver and not a ton of money but something that will be fun to play with and hopefully my wife will catch the bug!! Thanks for any ideas.

S&W=Mod 19 66 27 28 29 36 60 686 629 These are a few of my favorites, that will serve you well for all your life. If you are looking to do a bunch of heavy caliber work, look at Ruger Redhawks and super Redhawks. Their SP-101 is a great small carry gun. In 38 or 38/357. Others are out there that are good, this is just my short list I like.

Thanks I will take a look at all of those. I guess it is not going to be dedicated to carrying. I just want one and it if happens to work into a carry gun that is ok. Just something about a revovler that I have always liked. They just say sex.

Take a look at the Taurus Model 66 (7 round cylinder)available in blued or stainless and the model 608 (8 round cylinder) also available in blued or stainless. The 608 also has a ported barrel that helps reduce muzzle flip/rise. Either of these will serve you well. I had a Ruger SP-101(5 round stainless) and it has a small grip to help with concealability but it kicks like mule when fired. jmho.

If you decide on a 357...look for a Smith 627....I will always kick my """ for selling mine. Best gun I ever owned or shot. N Frame, K grip, 5 1/2 barrel with underlug, unfluted cylinder...it was a sweet shooting 357.
Any S&W will do for me. Don't forget Smith makes the most powerful production revolver in the world. .500 SW...monster gun...#1 son owns one. He said you have to be ready for it....
Colt makes some good ones, but limited selection. I owned a 4 in Python. VERY smooth action.
Rugers are gooden's too. Had a Security Six one time. Great handgun.
Others I have never owned or shot so I can't speak to them.
Good luck.

Thanks, I will look into them all. The show opens this evening and my experience is that if you are not there early all the good deals will be gone. I am also looking to pick up a shotty and a .22 of some sort. Maybe a hunting rifle as well. I am excited. Now if I can just get my wife well enough to watch the kids for a few hours so I can go!!

Smith and Wesson makes some great double action wheel guns. I really like them. For single action it's hard to beat a Ruger.

Take a look at the Taurus 627 Tracker, great revolver, I love mine. Handguns magazine did a write up on it back in the oct/nov 2011 issue that helped me to get mine. For a range/woods/house gun, it's pretty top notch. For CC, I wouldn't, but you said you already have a CC gun.

Not sure why I continue to go to these things. Taurus m617 479 was the cheapest and that was with two guys competeing for my business. No shottys to speak of. Ruger take down for 311 I almost took home but the guy was being a Dick and was only speaking to those he thought he had money completely ignoring me. Oh well bought some more powder and primers.

I have the GP100 3" with a nice trigger job, sweet Houge grips, in stainless. Love it!

I vote for a pre-Hillary Hole SW 686 or Ruger GP100 with 4"or 6" barrel.

Having a revolver is a good idea all the way around. My preference is for Ruger brand.

Let me add the model 10 and model 15 in 38 spc. 4" to this list of smiths, and the charter magnum pug in 357/38 or the charter bulldog in 44 spc. both 21/2" bbl
