Ron was always a bit non-communicative. He often disappeared for weeks at a time. Over the years, the forum took at least three big dumps. After a day or two he would get it back up and running. This time, the forum did not reincarnate. The survivaltopic.com website, however, seems to have been in a rebirth process...a very slow process.

I still ocassionally buy from firesteel.com. The products are good and the service is, too. Also, Ron was pretty generous with me. I mentioned I was using the small firesteels as incentive gifts to students and he sent me a whole pile of them for free.

I didn't understand Ron's expressed position regarding the mow infamous Firesteel toggle issue. Kevin asserted he originated and shared this idea/concept with Ron. Ron apparently felt no intellectual-property obligation to Kevin. Ron started making and selling firesteel toggles, Kevin expressed his severe disappointment, and a good bit of bad feelings evolved from that situation, and were openly expressed on the forum. I've wondered if that situation wasn't at least part of Ron's decision to not rebuild the forum after the last crash.

I was supose to get a free one Amegedon one...got the tiny one instead and it was split and broken on the end when I got it...Never could get a replacement...so I guess I will use the partial I have or find somewhere else to try and find one.

Any ideas where to get a good one?
