Tonight it's turkey vegetable stew, scalloped potatoes, bread and butter and cookies and fresh fruit for dessert. The stew is turkey meat picked from two big turkey necks (a LOT of dark meat, plus broth it was boiled in), two big carrots cut into slices, a can of corn, half a can of green beans, and three cubed potatoes. It made about a gallon, so everybody will have plenty.

We gave up trying to distinguish soup from stew in our house; we call it "stoup" and eat it regularly. Tonight was leftovers on the pork chops and rice; I made a new salad and we had leftover wedding cupcakes for dessert.

Last night I made Mac and Cheese. I used my own Swaledale cheese and some Mozzarella the neighbor made, mixed in some chunks of bacon and mushrooms, added a medium white sauce, and cracker crumbs fried with butter on top. I think next time I will leave out the mushrooms. I just have so many this time of year that I'm always trying to think of ways to use them, sometimes you just need a break even from something as wonderful as mushrooms

This weekend was my first shot at pork ribs. Our niece proclaimed them "the best ninja ribs ever" We were out back teaching her to shoot and defend herself and she want to learn to use a machete. I showed her how to use it safely and then said "never do this" and threw it 40 feet and stuck it in a tree. (more luck than anything else) Her eyes popped out her head and I was proclaimed "Ninja". Hence, ninja ribs. Barbecue pork ribs_______________Grilling headquarters_____________Grilled meatballs

Lol re your not liking mushrooms. I've always liked them. I can't stand barbecue sauce in ANY form. Why people won't leave meat alone is beyond me. I guess they don't think it tastes good by itself, but trying to make it taste like something else is wrong... to me, imhbvoo (in my humble but very opinionated opinion).

Ah! If it's drowned, I agree. The trick is to enhance the flavor, not bury it. What you see there is a smoky , meaty, sticky bundle of delicious.

LOL, sorry, no. Unless it's stew/soup/"stoup", I want it completely untouched. No sauce, no rubs, no nothing... I want to taste the real thing.

View AttachmentI hate mushrooms. Ugh! I cut some up for the wife now and again and they just give me willies. Well now....... That's like saying you don't like seafood when all you have had is haddock I'm guessing you have never had my cream cheese dip with Comb Tooth mushrooms (taste like crab meat), or my chicken mushroom Risotto (you wouldn't know you weren't eating chicken), Or have you ever smelled a fresh picked Chanterelle? Ah the aroma of apricots!! Speaking of smell, have you smelled Parasol mushrooms frying in a pan? Like maple syrup!! Or White Matsutake, Heaven!!! Come on over my friend and I'll introduce you to mushrooms!!!

Same reason I can't eat oatmeal. Sounds like a road trip.

Lol, it looks like you are a fine chef notwithstanding a somewhat limited array of foods Even if I can't convince you to come over to the dark side, a road trip sounds like a good idea You are always welcome

Texture/consistency has always creeped me out when it comes to eggs. Until I was a grownup, I couldn't deal with egg whites in any form but perfectly solid. I have an aversion to consuming mucus/snot, so fried eggs invariably had to be flipped over. Even now, unless they're thoroughly cooked, eggs can be creepy, but if I have a decent sized chunk of toast in my mouth at the same time, I'm fine. Peas rolled all over my tongue when I was a kid; flattening them into a paste was the answer. Until a family friend made stuffed mushrooms (store-bought fungi), I only knew the taste of (Campbell's) cream of mushroom soup. The idea that different kinds of mushrooms have different flavors is very new to me, a little surprising (given my uni-mushroom background) even. What we brought home from the walk with MW was very tasty, though!

Cooked almost to crispy, salt pepper on homemade buttered toast. I think I know whats for dinner......

Sweet Potatoes in the skin cooked in the crock pot/slow cooker. Broke open and buttered with brown sugar and chopped pecans. Big ole yellow summer squash split down the middle, nuked, buttered, salted, peppered with a big ole glass of water. Nut'n'Fancy but quite satisfying.
Uhhh! lemme think. Sonic has their hand dipped milkshakes half price after 8 pm. Nahh! I wouldn't . . . I just might.
