I just love this time of the year. I've been working into the night in the back yard next to the fire pit with a head lamp on making knives and sheaths. I just love the "harsh" winters of Florida. Sometimes Crash you're just a mean spirited old knife maker. Hahaha

I'll keep my 21 delicious degrees F right now (mere sweater weather), thanks. If we could ever remain under 40F for an entire week of winter, I'd be happy.

Our winter here in central Arizona is pretty dang harsh too. I mean, I had to put a sweater on to go into Walmart yesterday because they were keeping the place so darned cold! Yesterday morning a cool breeze was drifting through my neighborhood and if you stood out in it, with the sun on you, you were warm and cool at the same time. Heaven.

What a great halo (ring) around the moon tonight at Camp David. It's very obvious and really cool.
"They are called halo or carona. Carona is caused by diffraction by water drops present in the altostratus cloud. Halo is caused by refraction by ice crystals in cirrostratus cloud. A carona is distinguished from a halo by its reversal of colour sequence, the red of the halo being inside, that of the carona outside."
So I read

Woke up with 6* windchill so once again had to fill the bird feeders. Some may remember I was lamenting not having any birds although I ad a bird feeder hanging. That all change last December when I discovered they'd eaten half of the feeder (about 3 big coffee cans when it's full. Thanks Missasip) Well since then I now have three identical feeders, probably 150 American Finches, doves, downy woodpeckers, red headed woodpeckers, blue jays and enough Cardinals you'd think it was opening day in St Louis (which isn't far off Ya know, pitchers and catchers report tomorrow). Anyway they've provided me numerous times of entertainment. But I kind of feel like a democrat giving away all these freebies. At least Camp David is still NOT A GUN FREE ZONE. My neighbors are aware it seems. Ahhh to be so reverently talked about here in the woods. Lol

I haven't seen or heard many woodpeckers or owls lately but all the others you've mentioned are still in my neighborhood. What has really surprised me is hummingbirds are still around so I maintain their feeders also. They're so cute!

Store bought, lowes. 8" diameter about 18" tall. 5-6 feeder holes plus a bottom tray. Times 3. Those finches look like an air traffic controllers nightmare

LoL about comment on finches, they are quick. Surprised there aren't any head-on collisions.

I almost left town to head south today because it 60 degrees, but we are forecast for 29 degrees tonight. Decided to shelter in place instead of risking death by actually venturing out!
Sunday will be back up to 70 and next week 75-80 for a few days. I am seeing healthy sized flocks of geese heading back North, so I know spring is coming soon. Love that sound......

Now Hinckley hit 4 people with six shots from his RG in 1.7 seconds
How cum why cause you can't hit anything with it? I think you are trying too hard, you have to stop aiming and shoot faster
Believing he would never get a better chance,[12]:81 Hinckley fired a Röhm RG-14 .22 long rifle[23] blue steel revolver six times in 1.7 seconds,[12]:82[24] missing the president with all six shots.[25][22] The first bullet hit White House Press Secretary James Brady in the head. The second bullet hit District of Columbia police officer Thomas Delahanty in the back of his neck as he turned to protect Reagan.[12]:82[26][27][28][29] Hinckley now had a clear shot at the president,[12]:81 but the third bullet overshot him and hit the window of a building across the street. As Special Agent In Charge Jerry Parr quickly pushed Reagan into the limousine, the fourth bullet hit Secret Service agent Timothy McCarthy in the abdomen[26][27] as he spread his body over Reagan to make himself a target.[12]:81[16] The fifth bullet hit the bullet-resistant glass of the window on the open side door of the limousine. The sixth and final bullet ricocheted off the armored side of the limousine and hit the president in his left underarm, grazing a rib and lodging in his lung, stopping nearly 1 inch (25mm) from his heart.[30][16][19] Parr's prompt reaction saved Reagan from being hit in the head.[12]:224
