Aiken County Public Schools closed for rest of the week due to Hurricane Matthew evacuation www.aikenstandard.com/20161004/161009844/aiken-county-public-schools-closed-for-rest-of-the-week-due-to-hurricane-matthew-evacuationseemed a little extreme given we are 100+ miles from the coast but the idea is to get the people on the coast to evacuate and use the schools here to shelter them until they can go back to the coast South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley says she plans to issue an evacuation order Wednesday ahead of Hurricane Matthew so that 1 million people can safely and comfortably leave the coast. I will bet you can't find bread/milk/meat etc in any of our stores by mid-night. |

We have all our preps ready, if needed, generator, small fridge, camp stove, perculator, plenty of food, snacks, water, beer (LOL), lanterns, pretty much everything, including the kitchen sink! Unless things change, I really don't think we're going to have a serious problem. I hope I'm right! Here's video of I-26 lane reversal in Charleston. We have the lane reversals on many major highways here also. They're called corridors here. The first time I drove on the wrong side of the road on it I felt strange. But hey, traffic moved much more quickly to evacuate and that's what these lane reversals are all about.

Please pray for my high school best friend Dorna, who lives just on the outskirts of Charleston SC and tells me they are not going to evacuate. Also prayers for Sue, who lives alone on the 4th floor of a condo in Orlando and says she has 'hurricane impact' windows and isn't going to evacuate. I've never heard of hurricane impact windows. Have you?
I'm scared for both of them.

Post Katrina, all water wells and cell towers have their own generation. Hoping Florida has already done that....
