Well I'm back home again. It was a whirlwind of events while in NOLA. Besides eating many healthy meals prepared by my niece, we visited Vietnamese, Indian and of course Commander's Palace restaurants. All were great treats. Had my makeup done by Dory at Saks Fifth Avenue which only a woman can appreciate. Visited an antique shop with many interesting furnishings displayed. My favorites were two table sets carved out of solid teak wood. Thought of TW when I saw these, very rustic looking which is a design I really like. Went to the "Y" and had a workout of my life. Oh what a feeling the next day. Saturday night we headed to Mississippi. While there I was able to visit with Mississip and get a personal tour of his "man cave". His usage of the tool box as a kitchen work area and storage is a brilliant idea and fits with the man cave theme. Yesterday I drove back home. My grandson is on military leave. He, his younger brother and my daughter left this morning heading to Camp Lejeune, N.C. to visit his twin. In order for many of us to visit with him and celebrate my birthday, he had made reservations at a local restaurant. Quite a few members of my family were there which was a great way to finish my whirlwind of events and a great way to celebrate. CL WOW oh WOW! Your NOLA visit sounds wonderful. So glad you have family who spoils you. Happy Birthday late! Thanks SG. It was wonderful and I do feel lucky having them in my life. Sounds like a great trip and now that you have one under your belt you'll feel more confident to go again! Thanks cowgirl, it was a great trip. I thought of your advice to stop and get a bite to eat if the traffic got unbearable. Great advice which will follow me wherever I go and yes it was easy since I left so early. Leaving was also very easy and I recognized right away the Interstate 310 W. Baton Rouge sign so I just watched my signs to get home and didn't need the GPS on my phone. I was in heavy traffic but since I knew where I was it didn't bother me. Way to go CL. I was exhausted just reading all of your activity in Nola and when you got home. Happy Birthday late as I have been to busy canning to get on for awhile. Thank you my friend for the great wishes. Glad you got your canning done. Woodyz thanks for dropping in also.

Oh, one more thing. Got a call this morning from my niece. She said she misses me already and when I'm ready to go back to just let her know. And as cowgirl said, since I have one solo driving trip under my belt, I'll feel more confident to go again. I only wish y'all were with me to share my trip as I think of y'all often.

CL that sounds like a great time. Very happy for you. The ‘shack’ as Missasip like to call it is a pretty cool place. Glad you got that visit in.

Back when I was young and beautiful. That was before I was bitten by a vampire and underwent the transformation. Now I only stay young and beautiful by imbibing the blood of humans. I'm so glad I have your address. See you soon!

Spent my birthday weekend in downtown Chicago with DD #2 and SIL. Got some great walking in: 20,500 steps on Saturday, 16,500 steps on Sunday, and today's total still to be determined but we have to leave town at noon and drive home 4.5 hours. I always forget how easy everything is in the city. The food at the restaurant was astronomically phenomenal. A lump crab cake that was simply crab piled on a plate and lightly roasted; lobster bisque to write home about; lobster roll drizzled wirh butter on a roasted bun with the lobster ice cold but the butter & bun hot– perfect! One type of pasta I've never had that strongly reminded me of the German spaetzle Dropped no doubt into boiling water and then sautéed lately in a light sauce olive oil, Spring asparagus and garlic. Whitefish crusted with almonds sitting on a bed of orzo with all kinds of spring vegetables. None of these dinners were particularly expensive because we know where to eat. One of them, because our son-in-law was with us who eats unbelievable amounts of food, probably cost a little more than normal for us. But we were celebrating my birthday and getting together with our kids. Heading home later today; can't wait to get back to the garden! Garlic is already 1.5 feet tall. I've been wanting to come back to SG's post on celebrating her birthday with family in Chicago. Read all the walking she did on Saturday and Sunday. That is quite an outstanding accomplishment and I just wanted to say how impressed I was with your walking steps totals. Most people don't realize how much moving around you need to do to get there unless they're someone who is aware of their own walking steps in a day's time. I am and I'm not even close to those stats, however, I am moving more to better my own stats. It's baby steps but I do see much improvement and really feel so much better. Thanks to my niece's support I've been exercising daily. It finally clicked for me to start doing this and she frequently checks up on me. When I have milestones to report she listens intently and always has words of encouragement to keep pushing me to do more, which is what I need. Keep up the great work SG and I just want to say thank you, you're an inspiration to this Cajun lady! Is there anyone else who is exercising routinely and would like to share their story?
