Gun Show this weekend!!! Here's my strategy...go early on Saturday to buy ammo...go late on Sunday to buy new hardware. Whaddaya think? Good luck, personally I just would rather avoid show at this time, don't really care to the "cattle herd lines" and the nope, not gonna deal, if you don't want "what ever".... on the table...the guy guy behind you does and has a pocket full of cash.....Move along...\ What's the fun in that? So, as Itravel around Ivisit small mom and pop store, like "Moe and Molly , Liquor and guns"....and when he says, How can I help you? I'm looking over th rack, and ask , Do you hve any $ 100 buck NEF Topper 20 ga's? Guys says yeah we have 2, one for $109, the other for $124....So I ask if he would sell me bothe for $109, andsplit them with a buddy.....done deal.....Now thats the fun of it.

Gun Show this weekend!!! Here's my strategy...go early on Saturday to buy ammo...go late on Sunday to buy new hardware. Whaddaya think? It may be radically different in your neck of the woods, but I suspect that you will find anything you want, at prices that you don't want to pay. In many areas, the panic buying is still on, and I agree with what hunter63 said. But, last gun show I went to had a whole lot vendors packing up a whole lot of stuff at the end of the show. People are getting smarter and refusing to pay the high prices. My best source is always local, private party, face to face deals setup via hunting forums with classified sections. Trades are especially handy right now, because it helps equalize the panic pricing on both sides of the deal. My neighbor buys .40/9mm/.45 every time he sees it at Walmart. He doesn't own guns in those calibers, but he does a lot of trading for ammo that he wants. (That's the easiest way to get .22 lr right now) Enjoy the gun show and let us know what you think. Marc

Had to meet a customer at the shop early, so I left with enough time to swing by Walmart on my way, since I drive right past it every day.
Today I saw multiple boxes of these on the shelf: .45 ACP 9mm .40 38 spcl .357 mag 44 mag
.223 243 .270 .30-30 7mm mag 7.62x39 300 mag 12ga slugs, 00, 7-1/2
If I still owned guns, I would have left there with 300 rds of .223 and 300 rds of .357 HP. Then my wife and I would have gone back at lunch and bought a whole lot of 12ga Remington slugs and 00.

I suspect executive orders will be forthcoming regarding foreign manufactured ammo, and firearms. If that happens, (and I believe it's a high probability) the ammo shortages we have seen to date will look like the days of plenty.

Where is this 'Magical' store you speak of? Need ammo, will travel! I just swing by early mornings on my way to my shop. Some mornings, zip. Other mornings - lots of stuff. I went this morning to get a counter top oven for a gift, and they had .45ACP, .270, 300 win mag, 410 and 12ga slugs and bird shot. But then, it's Saturday when the picken's are slimmest. I refuse to pay panic prices, so I just check when it's convenient. I really like heavier shot, but I did grab another two 100 boxes of Federal 12ga #7-1/2 birdshot just because it was $ 25. - and you can you make so many different things with this. Again, I feel strongly that we should all have enough ammo to last long enough, to actually be enough Marc

Dunn's in Pevely,MO has quite a bit of ammo. I was in there today and picked up 2 boxes of 9mm (PMC Bronze) for $15.99 per. Got two box slugs for 4.99. They had a lot of 40, 45, 556, 308, and 38/357. Some was priced a little high but not outrageous. The Tul-ammo steel case 556 was $7.99 per box of 20. I actually bought some powder and small pistol primers. Surprisingly, the powder was $.50 cheaper than the stuff I bought a couple years back there. I would have bought more but I got lucky this week and got a nice little windfall of ammo for dirt cheap.

Glad A got some a long time ago last I bought before Christmas 2012 was 19.99 a 550 round box. Yep. My daughter, her husband and four kids from California moved in with us last summer. One of the first things I did was hit Walmart for .22 rifles and bulk packs of 555 rds of Federal. Thought I was in great shape with 2 boxes for each kid and a few spares of my own - I figured that I could always get more. Well they moved into their own place, and took their ammo with them........ I grabbed another 4 bricks and called it good. Should have been smarter, but I also bought a couple of AR's when the November election results came in, so I was focusing on 5.56/.223 at the time. If I still owned all of the guns that I had, I would not let myself get caught like that again. I suspect that is what many people are feeling.
