I've learned that I love big bore handguns, but the shape and fit has to be right in order for me to enjoy shooting it. But, yeah, I'm a little kid at heart and I love the big boom even when it hurts! The size, weight and angle of the Desert Eagle .44/.50 feel really good to me, as does my limited time shooting the classic 1911 in .45 ACP. But there are other very good handguns in .357Sig and .40 that I just can't get comfortable with. Being a wimp, I know that my Ruger .357 mag with 180gr is about the limit of what I can pull back on target in reasonable time - like 5 minutes But, I had the opportunity to shoot 454 Casull through an 8+" Taurus revolver with a scope perched atop, and it was surprisingly controllable. Must be the geometry and weight (felt like close to 5 lbs. loaded?) - guess I'll just stick with old school, low capacity wheel guns and use a 12ga to blow stuff up inside of 75 yards and a rifle to reach out further. Off topic, but Sunday is XM33 at 600 yards day - if the mud dries up enough to get in there and the wind drops to near calm. Yesssss! We shall see........

About four full cylinders of a .44 mag makes my hand hurt and leaves a red mark on the web between thumb an index finger. Having shot a Kimber and a Sig .45 though is heavenly. (Plus there are 3 extra rounds and I probably need them)

I have a scar in the web of by hand where the break over tang of a 12 GA dbl Barrel cut down to 12" over all length (stock and barrel)
My right hand was strong enough to hold it, but my left one couldn't.
It was a "clear a room" gun our Chief carried under his seat when I was an LEO in KS
But my injury was nothing compared to another LEO brave enough to try it.
used his weak side first "cause he was that kind of guy" broke his thumb........................ wait for it...............
then he turned right around and broke his right thumb to

last time I shot one of those we were shooting chickens heads off so we could butcher them
Oh hell now I remembered my chick head story and I just have to tell on my self
When I was in the 9th grade we would always by 200 baby chickens in the spring. One day when they were about six weeks old I had to stay home when everyone else went to the movies as some punishment for something I don't remember. Also as part of my punishment I had to clean out the chicken coop and pen.
So I had everything all piled up in the middle of the pen and went in to get a drink. When I came back all of the pile was all scratched back out.
So I went in the house and got an old number 7 iron golf club and went back to the pen and threw some scratch feed out.
While the chickens were pecking at the scratch I was hitting there heads off with the club.
I only had about half (100) of them killed when my parents came home.
Now that was one a$$ beating I will never forget + I had to clean/butcher all of those chickens that night + got grounded for a month + I had to buy 200 more chicks (not fair I only killed 100)

Which reminds me of the second worst a$$ beatin' I got.
One day as my Mom left to go to town she was complaining about all of the barn cats being on her car
Now she said, "I guess we are going to have to get rid of some of these cats"
Yeah you got it..........I am fixin' to get some cat lovers side ways, but remember while you are ripin' me a new B hole, I have almost all ways had pet cats around, we have one now. But...........................
So I went into the house after she left and got my .22 and a qt of milk and went to the barn, poured the milk into a pan and went into the hay loft WELL.....................
I killed 10 cats (but I left 5) I promise I hit all of them in the head first shot and not one suffered............... I know sorry
and I piled them all up next to the door to show my Mom when she got home, and guess what.............................
She was not very happy about it and I got my butt beat good and grounded too
But I didn't have to clean the cats and I didn't have to buy any more, so it wasn't as bad as the chicks event.
