I enjoyed that thread about .30-30s and .22s so much I was wondering, what's your favorite revolver and what do you like about it? As most of you are aware I own an RG .22 single action six shooter. I like the way it shaves just the slightest bit of lead when it fires, the feel of those nicely curved plastic grips and the way it takes forever to unload and reload. However,I do think the Ruger GP 100 stainless is a fine gun. I've shot the 4" and 6" models and they just feel right. They are great shooters. I also think .357 mag caliber is a great all around bullet.
PS. And yes I really do have that RG .22 and have owned it since 1983

Taraus m44. Nice narrow grip for a good hold. Factory ported barrel for a mild recoil even with full house loads

Cmon Missasip. Some people might not know that nomenclature. Have to be more specific about the guns and what you think is there best feature All Smith and Wesson models. Balance for a factory gun is perfect for me. All three model have the same grip size. But all are different in their on rights (frame size). Old, new and hybrid...well not so new anymore (L Frame)...lol And a Colt Python would do also. Backward azz rotation but it's all good. Silky smooth double action trigger from the factory. Life under full power 357 rounds makes it a bit suspect. Not sure it's even made anymore. Jimmy

All things S&W in wheel guns. Special Mention to all the N frames. 357 44 45 colt My all time favorite. The Model 27 'N' frame in 4'' barrel, 357 mag. The stainless 'L' frame 357, comes in number 2. For non shooting safe dweller is the Model 29 6'' 44mag. Oh...WTH, I love em all..

Smith & Wesson 686 is my favorite. 357 caliber provides some significant punch. The heaviness of the gun minimizes recoil. Just a fun gun to shoot, overall.
O.S.

the only 2 i have shot was a ruger redhawk and a ruger vaquero (sp?) both in 45acp
the redhawk being a double action was much quicker to shoot but i love the classicness (if that is even a word lol) of the single action vaquero, there is something to be said for re-cocking between shots, it makes you slow down and concentrate on placement

Yep .357 K frame Model 19 L frame Model 586 N frame/K frame grip Model 627 Jimmy LOL....I love the "frame" and any frame reference.......Impresses me...... Ruger fan myself, and Sp100 .357 my favorite....all round. Next would be the S&W 686 .357 Target (don't know the frame?) Then Ruger Super Blackhawk's...44Mag Ruger Black .45ic convertible to .45APC Ruger Single Six has been around a long time, and generally wears the .22 mag cylinder. Ruger LCR .357 rides with me and is a handful with .357's....so mostly shoot .38's

Including now the X frame for the 500 mag. I prefer the K and N frames. They will handle steady doses of full power 357. Smith revolvers have also been offered in various round and square butt grips. Smith and Wesson, unlike Ruger and Colt and a list of others, has always offered options to make the gun fit the person, rather than one gun fits all mentality. Smiths are also the most copied handguns, next to the 1911, in the world. It's hard to copy perfection...LOL Jimmy

I hear ya...I have no idea how one keep them all straight....You need to really like and follow them..... Didn't even know where to find the model number on the 686...... under the cylinder..
The fact that they are always out of stock, no used for sale and when there is...expensive....keeps me for a large interest.
Mine shoots good, though.

There is something primal about the heft and feel of a full lug barrel. I have owned a 686 and regret letting it go. I currently have a stainless GP 100 3" with a Hogue grip and am confident with it. I would love to have a spare $500 to get the 5" model. For aesthetics, my Colt 6" Python is definitely a "get off my porch now!" piece of hand fitted artwork. I recently sold my 4" stainless Python for 3x what I paid for it and it was a honey too. Honestly though, as nice as a Python is made, Ill still take the 686 4-6" any day with a professional trigger job. Its just a hard piece to beat.

You can get it in 7 shot now and they have an eight shot version I think you can get from the custom shop. Model number usually on barrel. Been a Smith fan for a LONG time....in case you couldn't tell.... Jimmy
