Nothing was initially taken down from the Dick's shelves by corporate order. A jack of a female came in, pretty much made a political statement (supposedly one of the mothers who lost her kid that day), and persuaded the manager to remove anything that was a firearm. We never had ARs in that store to begin with; even before December. The employees behind the counter weren't too happy about the decision either. I only buy from Dick's to keep them employed as there is no other sporting goods store here at all that sells ammo and firearm accessories. Nearest would be Cabela's and that more than an hour drive from our local Dick's. I'm in Texas. Both Dick's Sporting Goods pulled their AR's off the shelves here immediately after the Sandy Hook shootings. Everyone should always follow their own path, but I run my life on principle. I will not set foot in Dick's ever again. If you think I'm exaggerating, Sears crossed me up in 1982 and I haven't spent one penny with them since. Never will. Prior to that, all of my appliances were Kenmore and I owned a lot of Craftsman tools. Just the way I do things. Marc

That's a good deal on the .223. It's also the cheapest I've heard of in a long time. To me the real gem is the "Tulammo Brass Maxx" which I suspect is re-badged Fiocchi. I did a fast 20 rd magazine dump with an M&P15. I loaded the mag with Federal and Tula, in an every-other-round pattern. I put another 10 rounds in a Pmag 30 and took more time shooting. It all ran smoothly without a hiccup and felt identical. Of course without a chrono, I have no idea what it's actually doing besides drilling holes in Mesquite trees, but I will be buying more at that price. I took this today to show what this looks like: Marc

Only tulammo around here is the steel variety. I bought some before I knew better. Lowest I have been able to purchase it in the last 3ish months is 6.55 for 20. Not a bad deal at all. I believe it was winchester.

I wish our WM would get some of that 223, all my AR's have cob webs.

If enough people were like that, it would stop the PC police in their tracks. Nothing was initially taken down from the Dick's shelves by corporate order. Did the TulAmmo dirty things up too bad? That was one criticism I'd heard about it.

I didn't notice anything different compared to the Federal/AE that I normally shoot. Keep in mind that the brass Tula is "Made in Italy" so I suspect that it's made by Fiocchi and re badged.
I did run a few boxes of steel cased Tula .223 through one of the AR15's when I first got it just to see if it worked. Walmart was selling it for just under $5.00 for a box of 20 back then. I didn't have any problems and didn't have to clean the gun any differently that with other ammo. BUT, I only put 200 rounds of it through the gun so it could well be terrible and I just don't realize it.
At the current price of brass cartridges at Walmart, I'll skip steel for .223/5.56 (AK's are a different story, but I don't have any now)

Careful what info you give out to these guys. The local ammo guy asked for my id last night while purchasing ammo, which he has never done before in the dozen or so times I have purchased from him. He looked at it for a little to long and after I asked if he was looking for anything in particular he said, "oh, you live on the same street my mother does, she shoots alot as well". Caused me enough heartache to say forget the ammo and I left, and won't be returning.
At a seperate store a small locally own reloading type place he asks all of his customers to enter their info into his personal computer so he can keep track of the purchases so when he gets more in he can contact us.
These fools are out of control! What makes anyone think that a customer would want to give out their personal info to some guy to put in his personal computer. I am half tempted to call someone, not sure who, and have them go asks some questions of these guys.

Of the 10 WMs within 50 miles of me it is the same story. Some '06, .270, .243, 7 mag and 300 mag short and standard.
No 308, 9mm, 40, 45, 223, 308, 30-30, 7.62x39 or 22 in any form.
Pretty much the same for Academy and Gander Mountain.
My gun store down on the coast has a fair selction, but has a 1 box limit. 4 if you buy a gun.
