Stopped by my local store today and picked up 13 boxes of 5.56x45. He had a ton in stock and it was about 3 bucks a box cheaper than the last box I bought from him.

Stopped by my Wally World this AM and they had 5, yes FIVE, AR-15s including a Sig and a Colt. The ammo cupboard actually had 556, 223, and some 762x39 along with some other random calibers. There has got to be alot of folks out there still stuck with overpriced rifles and a chaffed credit card balance.

Wally Worlds here too have several AR platforms from $619-$1230. Ammo though still pretty non exsitent. Gander Mountain and Academy have plenty oof ammo other than any type of rimfire. No one has any for long when it comes in.....

The local gun stores here have just removed all limits on boxes of ammo of all kinds. The prices are a little inflated but it is in stock.

Picked up 1000 rounds of 9mm at a local gun show from Georgia Arms (one of my favorite ammunition vendors). They had much, much, much more available.
22lr still at stupid prices most places.

I don't understand why 22LR is so short and expensive. Maybe because people were hording it up. Every survival/prepper site out there says BUY IT!!! I'm sure that's not helping either. Kind of a bummer too, my daughter wants to go shooting but I have maybe 100 rounds of 22LR.

What I don't understand is why it's so short AND very expensive in Florida and here in Texas Academy gets it in at least twice a week and at almost pre idiot pricing. 1400 bucket of .22lrs here sells for about $65. 550 round brick in Florida (if he could have gotten it) $125. That's the discrepancy I don't understand.

I havent been able to get my hands on anything in my local Walmart areas for about a year now. I paid 19.99 for a brick of 22lr at Wally world...again that was a year ago. Pretty much the shelves are empty and dont understand why since I've heard Walmarts elsewhere are stocked somewhat. I have plenty of ammo but dont want to shoot if I cant replenish....then again, you cant have enough ammo.

One Wal-Mart 15 miles north has 4-5 boxes at least of every caliber EXCEPT .22. There's not even a place for it. Has shotguns and a few rifles. The Wal-Mart 15 miles south has very few boxes of a couple of rifle calibers and shotgun. BUT, they have 6-7 ARs, rifles and self defense shotguns. Seems like every one of the Wal-Marts I've been to have different amounts available and different firearms.

I stopped by Walmart this morning to get some mouse traps (!!!) on the way to work - they had at least 10 bricks of Winchester 555 rounds and 20 bricks of Federal 555 round bulk packs of .22lr on the shelf when I left. Seems like $0.03/round is the price for cheaper Winchester/Remington these days, and a half cent more for Federal hollow point and $0.05 to $0.06 for the higher quality stuff. A far cry from the standard one penny each of yesterday.......
At the risk of being overly repetitive - I fully believe that massive price increases will happen again (they always have) and become permanent. If you know that you will use it, putting some up now is not hoarding - it's simply a hedge against inflation. Don't stack it high and deep, no matter how good your safe is. Stack it far and stack it wide. Think creatively in terms of "where else you can store some, reasonably cool and dry" then do it again and again. Money is tight, so I distribute one or two boxes at a time, but I try to keep on doing it. If a big calamity doesn't come, I can just use it and replace it in the same way I use stored food, water and general supplies.

At the risk of being overly repetitive - I fully believe that massive price increases will happen again (they always have) and become permanent. Some things need to be repeated. This is one of them. Dropped in a local box store and noted several things this weekend. BX 25 mags stood out, P mags, 5.56, multiple 10/22's, Ar15's, etc, small and large pistol/rifle primers, even a load of 22lr (sportsman's warehouse). Yes they will happen again. Some folks will be crying the blues about scalpers when the prices rocket up again.

Is PVC a viable way of burying ammo? I have it in the cars and bags and what not but not really anywhere else. Guess i should start looking into that aspect of it all.
